Vitamins and Minerals
Vitamins are substances that your body needs to grow and develop normally. There are 13 vitamins: vitamins A, C, D, E, and K, and the eight B vitamins (thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, biotin, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, and folate). Minerals are also important for your body to stay healthy. Your body needs relatively large amounts of some minerals, such as calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium, and smaller amounts of others, such as iron, zinc, and selenium.
