V. Additional Instructions for Resubmission (Amended) Application

Preparation of a resubmission application should follow the PHS 398 form instructions, with these additional guidelines:

1. The Overall Research Strategy should include a 1-page introduction that summarizes the changes that have been made from the previous submission.
2. Preceding the Research Strategy for each project or core, provide a 1-page introduction that responds to the criticisms raised in the previous review and summarizes changes made in the research plan.
3. Substantial scientific changes must be marked in the text of the application by bracketing, indenting, or changing typography. Do not underline or shade the changes. Deleted sections should be described but not marked as deletions. If the changes are so extensive that essentially all of the text would be marked, explain this in the introduction.
