The Latest on Our Logos

March 1, 2013

Over the past month or so, you may have noticed a different logo for NCCAM. Our Center’s logo now incorporates the new National Institutes of Health (NIH) logo, which is only the fourth one for NIH in its 125-year history. This change is part of an NIH-wide effort to visually unify its institutes and centers and strengthen efforts to communicate the full impact of the research it supports.

In the past, the different logos for NIH’s many components presented a fragmented image to stakeholders—whether, for example, they were members of the public looking for health information, or journalists writing stories on new research findings. The new visual mark will help unite communication efforts across NIH and reduce confusion among the public.

Many people are unaware that four-fifths of NIH’s funding (84 percent) is awarded to thousands of universities, institutes, and small businesses around the United States. If you are an NCCAM grantee, we ask that you mention the support you receive from NIH and NCCAM—including a sentence in your publications, press releases, and presentations. Thank you for helping us to increase public awareness of the extensive scope and impact of research funded by NIH and NCCAM.
