Make a Donation to NCCIH

To assist in our effort to answer important scientific and public health questions about complementary and integrative health approaches, NCCIH has been authorized by the U.S. Congress to accept donations and bequests. Donations to NCCIH are handled in a “Gift Fund” account, which is separate from Congressional funding appropriations. Basic operating expenses and administrative costs are paid out of the Center's appropriation; therefore, NCCIH uses Gift Fund donations to promote or expand its work.

As part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, NCCIH is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as tax-exempt under 26 U.S.C. 501 (c) (3). Although NCCIH is federally funded and not a fundraising organization, contributions to NCCIH are tax-deductible pursuant to 26 U.S.C. 170.

A contribution to NCCIH can be made by sending a check or money order payable to the “National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health.” Please include a letter with information mentioned in the “Gift Details” section below.

Gift Details

A letter must accompany a check indicating the purpose of the donation. Gifts may be “unconditional” to support the NCCIH mission or “conditional” to support a particular area of NCCIH research.

If a contribution is made in honor of another person, please indicate the name of the honoree as well as a name and address of the individual to whom an acknowledgement can be sent. All donors are acknowledged in writing.

To include NCCIH as a beneficiary in a will, the document should include the name and address of the Center as well as a statement that indicates the bequest is to be used to support the NCCIH mission.
